Gas and Electric is my favourite track, no doubt. It makes me wonder where and how Steve found and worked on these sounds. The power of it also makes me consider the track as an ode and monument to the industrial revolution that gave England for a long time a skyline chimney's and factory's.
4 Harmonics
stream trackload mp3   Flyover
Bowed cello harmonics sampled and played back via midi keyboard.
comment 10.05.2011: David Cooper Orton (www.davidcooperorton.co.uk)
I was listening to this atmospherically charged piece when the skies unleashed an almighty crack of thunder - fitted right in!
comment 11.05.2011: raül bonell (raulbonell.tumblr.com)
i'm basking with all those clusters of noises and very high pitches fighting on top. beautiful, steve!
comment 18.05.2011: Roger "ErocNet" Sundström (http://erocnet.bandcamp.com)
Nice rigid acoustic sound here, you can hear the harmonics very clearly and the track is growing beautiful.
5 Reverb
stream trackload mp3   Visions Of Indecision
Samples music box and bass clarinet, and a selection of reverb plugins. There must be over 100 different reverb setiins, many of which overlap. An attempt to make a simple piece of music sound interesting by putting the instruments in a variety of different virtual spaces.

i enjoyed this greatly. interesting and creative use of reverb in this track.
comment 02.08.2010: David Cooper Orton (www.davidcooperorton.co.uk)
Enjoyed the compositional aspect of this and the welcome mixture of instruments' timbres. Could have sworn the first note of the clarinet was a cello! Nice.
comment 03.08.2010: Rick Walker (www.youtube.com/rickwalkerlivelooper)
the juxtaposition of bass clarinet and toy music box (which I seem to be obsessed with lately) is really wonderful.................this is a perfect match of chamber music composition sensibility in the digital age. Very nice!

comment 14.05.2009: Michael Peters (www.michaelpeters.de)
wonderful !! how did you do that?
comment 15.05.2009: Steve Moyes (www.stevemoyes.org.uk)
Thanks Michael. It's four different sets of grand piano samples played by midi keyboard and quantised (I'm no pianist). 1st half is composed, 2nd half improvised.
comment 23.05.2009: Perendia
I always greatly enjoyed your inspirative and inventiv works, those I heard long before and the two that are available on Internet.
comment 01.06.2009: Erixoff (www.youtube.com/user/erixoff)
"Funny" tune. Sounds like the perfect follow-up of the "Anti-Accord Absolu" played by Antoine in Les Tontons Flingueurs.
7 ReUse
stream trackload mp3   Mrs. Bridges
Composed, performed and recorded by Steve Moyes
All sounds created using and empty glass jar which formerly contained Mrs Brides Mini Mints.
Scraping and tapping jar and lid with fingernails, striking lid against jar, plucking gold-coloured elastic tie.
All sounds were sampled and played back at original speed and pitch.
